Carmen Basco Shilling Troquille

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Carmen Basco Shilling Troquille will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, the 6th of August 2012 at the St. Margaret Mary Mission in Gorum with Father Kurian Zachariah to serve as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Gorum Cemetery. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Sunday evening beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing until service time the following day in the church hall in Gorum. Ms. Carmen Basco Shilling Troquille, 81, of Gorum, entered eternal rest on Friday, the 3rd of August 2012 at Rapides General Hospital after a short illness. She was a graduate of Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Arts in education. She retired from the Louisiana school system after more than 20 years of service and also as Postmaster in Gorum. She loved her community and was involved in all aspects of it. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Mission in Gorum. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carson Leo Basco and MaeBelle Nichols Basco; husbands, Raymond DeWitt Shilling and Roy “Chic” Troquille; her son, Michael Leslie Keefe. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Phillip Raymond Shilling and wife Donna K and Richard Carmen Shilling and wife Rita K.; her daughter, April Dawn Troquille; her brother, Charles M. Basco; her grandchildren, John Richard Shilling (Cheryl), Justin Raymond Shilling (Beverly), Raymond Bradley Shilling (Candida), Jessica Shilling Romero ( Linus), Gregory Phillip Shilling (Maricel), and Erin Keefe LeBlanc (Seth); her great-grandchildren, Callie, Jessalinn, Matthew, Grace, Victoria, Gabriel, Austin, Caroline, Christina, Annaliece, Emery, Abram, Madison, and Justin. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Justin Shilling, Raymond Shilling, Gregory Shilling, Linus Romero, John Shilling, and Monty Cortez. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Shilling, Austin Shilling, Gabriel Castro, Abram Romero, and John Setliff.
