Justine Marie Marlin Downs
Memorial services for Justine Downs will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 08, 2012, at the Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Justine Marie Marlin Downs, to those she knew and loved, Tina, was born on June 7, 1974, in EI Centro, California. She passed late Friday night, August 3, 2012, at LSU Medical, after suffering a heart attack the preceding Tuesday night. She was the greatest mother in the world. Her four boys, Jimmy, Luka, Josh, and Danny were her life. Even family friends grew into her heart and became her kids. She did everything she could to make her boys happy. She loved music completely, and even joined her son Luka to his first concert to see Three Days Grace and Avenged Sevenfold in April of 2011. Her favorite band was 30 Seconds To Mars, and it is a shame that she'll never get to see them. She had one of the biggest hearts. Anyone was welcome to her house; friends, family, friends of family, and friends of her kids that she had never even met. She welcomed one and all with open arms, an open mind, and not to mention an open fridge.
You could confide into her with anything and not worry about her judging you, she had been there, she had seen it, she knew how it felt. She loved watching NCIS, and many, many shows on The History Channel. Before she passed, she got a hold of the True Blood series and holed herself up in her room to watch it with her husband, David Downs, and her "daughter-in law", Tyra Isaac. She would stomach watching anime with Danny, but did it for him. She supplied Josh with countless horror movies. She would sit on the couch and watch the Avenged Sevenfold Live In The LBC DVD and listen to Luka play along with it on his guitar. She would watch NCIS with Jimmy as they laughed through the show.
One thing she wanted most in the world was to be a grandma, and it makes me so happy to say that, although she will not be able to see her grow up, her granddaughter, Skylar Aria Marlin, was born the night before her passing. Skylar will grow up with her loving grandma watching her every step of the way from above.
Saying she will be missed is putting it lightly, but I know she wouldn’t want people mourning. She would rather them partying it up, doing shots of vanilla vodka with her son Luka and his friend Tyler Morris. We all love and miss her so much, and it is hard. But she left here with love, and continues to love us each and every day, and she will always remain in our hearts and minds.
She is survived by her husband, David Daniel Downs Jr.; four boys, Daniel Jacob Downs, Joshua Alexander Downs, Jason Luka Fagundes III and Samuel James Marlin; her claimed children, Christopher Johnson, Tyra lsaac, and Ariana Fagundes; father, Samuel Howard Marlin; step mother, Francine Marlin; step father, T.J. McCaustland; brothers, Frank Joseph Marlin, and Samuel Robert Marlin; future daughter in law, Robyn Estes; granddaughter, Skyler Arya Marlin; sisters, Samantha Jean Eads, and Katie Leigh Rachal; sister in law, Oreana McKeen; niece, Amaia Ann McKeen; grandmother, Alice Marlin; and many, many cousins, aunts, uncles, family and friends.
Preceding her in death is her mother, Laurian Sheppard Marlin McCaustland; mother in law, Terry McKeen; dear friend, Steve Martin, and other family and friends.
Mom, we miss you. We miss you so much. It hurts so badly, but don't worry. We’ll be ok. You taught us everything we know. We'll figure out how to laundry, we’ll learn to cook; we’ll learn how to make tea for ourselves instead of making it for you. We’ll always love you momma. Save us a seat up there.
