Mr. Fosson, 69 a resident of Natchitoches died Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Courtyard of Natchitoches after a short illness. He was a native of Lake Charles growing up in the Grand Lake area outside of Lake Charles and spending over 40 years in the Greater New Orleans area prior to relocating to Natchitoches after Hurricane Katrina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger W. Fosson Sr. and Annie Lou (Maddox) Fosson of Lake Charles, La.
He was survived by his wife of 34 years Mary Eileen McLaughlin Fosson of Natchitoches, children, Diane McDonald of Singer, La, Bill Fosson and wife Kelly of Moss Bluff, and Charles Fosson of Lake Charles and Brother John Fosson of Grand Lake, La and 4 grandchildren. Mr. Fosson attended McNeese State College and was employed in the sales of heavy construction equipment in addition to retiring as an oil field consultant.
Mr. Fosson was an avid sportman enjoying fishing and hunting all through his life. His enjoyment of nature exceeded that of most, getting up early leaving for a fishing trip, duck hunt or deer hunt was no problem. He always had a dollar bet on who caught the first fish, the biggest fish and the most fish. During high school and college he worked as a guide for duck hunters. In his later years on Cane River he was often seen in his wooden skiff “ PinTail” cruising the river for the big bass or taking his bride for a river cruise on the party barge. He believed in the love of family always enjoying the family gatherings.
Roger loved life to the fullest, whether being on a lake, in a deer blind or flying which he began as a teenager. He also loved providing support to his wife’s career, as well as her art adventures always suggesting another painting with a boat as the focal point rather than another floral painting.
The family is grateful to Dr. John Hogg, Natchitoches Hospice, the staff of the Courtyard and Clementine Mitchell and Linda Williams for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions made be made in Roger Fosson’s name to the Hospice of Natchitoches or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
