Joe Brazzel “J.P.”, 91 years of age, passed away September 15, 2012. Joe was born June 2, 1921 to the late Joe A. Brazzel and Annie Norsworthy Brazzel in Natchitoches, LA. He was known as JP, and to the family of his wife, Gladys Nolley Brazzel, he was known as “Papa J”. He was a soft spoken man, quiet at many times, but when he spoke you listened. Papa J was always willing to help others, was kind, and was a humble man who loved woodworking and locksmith work. Papa J loved his family and especially his wife, Gladys. Both were in the nursing home together and his main concern was that Gladys was provided for and taken care of. He was willing to sacrifice his care to try to care for her. Even the day before he died he was trying to do for her and take care of Gladys. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye when you saw him. He was appreciative of anything someone did for him or his wife and always thanked you for it and said how much and said “I appreciate you for all you do.” He liked to eat chocolate candy and chocolate chip cookies. He loved his desserts after his meals. Papa J (JP) was a godly man and read his BIBLE every day. He loved to talk about what he had done in life; from farming, logging, truck-driving, and working on the railroad; to his work at Northwestern State University. He did say one of the things he liked best was working as a locksmith. He did speak of his time in service during WWII. When at home you would find him in his shop making and building something out of wood, remodeling a room, or working in his yard and garden. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Nolley Brazzel 87 of Bossier City, LA; his sons; Gerald Huddleston and wife Doree of Center, TX and Ronald Huddleston of Bossier City, LA; his daughters, Judy Welch Flaherty and husband Edward “Rock” of Tewsbury, MA and Beverly Lestage and husband Bob of Cypress, TX; nieces, Wanda Hicks and husband James and Patsy Gardner and husband Delman both of Shreveport, LA, and Cora Moore and husband Bobby of Bossier City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Trey Bonnette, C. D. Brazzel, Gary Nolley, Gerald Huddleston, and Ronald Huddleston.
