Sylvian C. LeVasseur, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sylvian C. LeVasseur, Jr. will be 11 am Monday, September 24, 2012 at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with Rev. John O’Brien serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Clear Lake Cemetery, Goldonna, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be 6:30 pm on Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. LeVasseur, 70 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. He was born in Natchitoches to Sylvian LeVasseur, Sr. and Mattie Nobles LeVasseur on January 28, 1942. He worked many years for the City of Natchitoches and upon retirement from the city, he started a lawn care company. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 1/2 years, Pollye LeVasseur; son, Richard Allen LeVasseur of Natchitoches; daughter, Lori Coon and her husband Scott of Shreveport; grandchildren, Keegan and Kellen Coon; sisters, Martha Theresa Fox and her husband Jeff of Hamilton Square, NJ, Wanda Gale Norred of Natchitoches, Linda Sharon Hilton of Houston, TX and Ramona Hoogaveen and her husband Bernie of Cleveland, TX; brothers, John Tildon LeVasseur and his wife Pat of Houston, TX and Mark Noble LeVasseur of Waller, TX; as well as a numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Donald Dykes, Kirby Moreau, Joe LeVasseur, Billy W. Weaver, Donnie Ashcraft, Marc Keedy, Greg Fox and Roger Chapman. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Hines, J. W. Smith, Jr. and Howard Chester. The family would like to express our love and appreciation to all of the doctors who gave such great care and compassion to Sylvain, especially Dr. Hernandez, Dr. Nguyen, Dr. Ferrell, Dr. Green, and the nephrology group. A special thanks to the Willis Knighton ICU care nurses who were more than wonderful to our loved one and family. We will remember your kindness always. Also, to all the family and friends who called, visited and prayed so hard with us and for us, may God bless you always.
