Robert James Starks

Robert James Starks, age 73, of Natchitoches, LA, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, November 9, 2007. The funeral service will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 10, 2007 , with Rev. Matthew Pagels officiating. Interment will be at New Cedron Cemetery in Vowells Mill, LA. Mr. Robert was born in Burks Falls, Ontario Canada. He was raised in Canada, and as a young man he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He moved to the states in his early 20's after he married his wife, Dixie. He was extremely fond of genealogy, and served as the president of the Natchitoches Parish Genealogy and Historical Association for many years. He loved to antique shop, and refinish antique furniture. He also liked to collect antique bottles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Allison Starks, his parents, Richard Starks and Elritta Andrews Starks; one step-son, Duane Holland; and one sister, Lois Pinel. He is survived by his daughter, E. Allison Starks Gaff of Fort Wayne, IN; his step son, Timothy George Richards of Vowells Mill, LA; his daughter-in-law, Cassandra Holland of Leesville, LA; one brother, John Starks and wife Mary Alice of Smiths Fall, Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
