Mrs. Alma O’Bannon McLaren, 90, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, passed away on November 7, 2007, at the Highland Clinic in Shreveport, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2007. The funeral service will be held at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Friday, November 9, 2007, with the Reverend Jimmy McDonald and Reverend Olen McLaren officiating. Interment will be at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.
Mrs. McLaren was born March 16, 1917, in the Good Hope Community near Cypress, LA. She was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church where she attended church all her life. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress. She was a loving aunt to all her nephews and nieces and considered by them as their “second mom.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; Bryant L. and Anna Beasley O’Bannon; two brothers, Proctor O’Bannon and Harris O’Bannon; two sisters, Exa O’Bannon Loughridge and Nina Belle, two nieces; Odessa O’Bannon Cooper and Ann Eva Loughridge Strutz; and two great nephews, Thomas Dwight Cooper and Kenneth Randall Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eurcle E. McLaren; sister-in-law, Sadie Dowden; nephews, Bill O’Bannon, Hubert O’Bannon, Douglas O’Bannon, Adrian, O’Bannon; nieces, Earline O’Bannon Smith, Jerri O’Bannon Ray, Beth Loughridge Carter, and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
Pallbearers will be Theron Dodd McLaren, Bill O’Bannon, DeWayne O’Bannon, Bob Strutz, Julian Ray, and Ronald Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Hubert O’Bannon, Darren O’Bannon, Clifford Smith, John Earl Ray, and Paul Keyser
