Funeral service for George L. Kirkland will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Rev. Allen Garsee officiating. Burial will be in Provencal Cemetery at Provencal, LA. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13, 2007 from 5 PM until 10 PM and on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 8 AM until service time in the funeral home. Mr. Kirkland, 66, of Keithville, LA, died Monday, November 12, 2007, in Shreveport, LA. He was a native and former resident of Provencal, La. He was a former supervisor for Brown and Root Construction Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Kirkland, Sr. and Lessie Stutts Kirkland; brothers, James Kirkland and Rodney Kirkland. He is survived by six sisters, Ruby Phillips and husband Gayle of Pasadena, TX, Bertie Riggs and husband Howard of Natchitoches, LA, Virley Broadway husband Delbert of Provencal, LA, Katherine Garsee and husband Allen of Keithville, LA, Mary Wilhite and husband Jackie of Blanchard, LA, Christy Greene of Provencal, LA; three brothers, Leon Kirkland, Jr. of Provencal, LA, Early Kirkland of Keithville, LA, Billy Kirkland of Keatchie, LA; special friend LaNita Niette of Shreveport, LA Pallbearers will be Delbert Broadway, E.L. Greene, Ben Thomas, Jeremy Harris, John Gibson, Dallas Niette. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Martin.
