Stella Turner Johnson

Funeral services for Stella Turner Johnson, age 93, (Mrs. L.H. Johnson, Jr.) will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 11 AM, at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, Natchitoches, LA. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. Stella Turner Johnson was born February 28, 1914 in Fort Necessity, LA, the youngest child of Rosalie Ross Turner and Richard Leavens Turner. She attended LA Tech and Northwestern where she met her husband, Lovick Howard Johnson, Jr. They met on a blind date and married six weeks later. They were married for 48 years before he died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her five sisters and two brothers. Stella’s greatest joy came from being the proud mother of two sons who simply adored her. We were truly blessed to have been able to enjoy this wonderful person for so much of our lives. She taught us, she cared for us, and above all, she loved us. We will forever miss this remarkable woman known to many as Mama Stella. She leaves to mourn her passing her two sons; Lovick Howard Johnson, III and his wife Adris and Richard Turner Johnson and his wife Barbara. Her grandchildren are Jennifer Johnson Adkins, Richard Johnson, Jr., and his wife Christy, Jason Michael Johnson, Lance Ryan Johnson, and Leslie Johnson Kennedy and her husband, Mickey. Her great grandchildren are Christopher, Ariel, and Hunter Adkins, and Addyson Lynn Kennedy. Also she leaves one niece, Virginia Case. The family would like to extend our appreciation to the caring people and friends whose thoughts and prayers were with Stella during her illness. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity would be appreciated. But better still - hug a loved one or a friend - call someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Enjoy life - that’s what Stella did. Pallbearers will be Lance Johnson, Mickey Kennedy, Christopher Adkins, Dannie Methvin, Jeff Cooper, and Neil Kerry.
