Thomas Calvert Scott

A funeral mass for Thomas Calvert Scott will be held on Wednesday, the 3rd of October 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Natchitoches. Visitation will be held at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home on Tuesday, the 2nd of October 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Officiating the services will be Fr. Louis Sklar, Fr. Stephen Scott Chemino, and Fr. Irion St. Romain. Burial will follow in Memory Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Scott, age 79, was born on the 10th of July 1933 in Natchitoches. He served his country in the Army, and played minor league baseball prior to his military service. In February of 2001 he was inducted into the St. Mary's High School Athletic Hall of Fame as a two-sport athlete. He retired in 1995 as a plant foreman from Tennessee Gas Pipeline after 40 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Calvert Murphy Scott and Thomas Emile Scott; his stepmother, Beau Laird Scott; his brothers, Terry Scott and Jimmy Scott. He is survived by his wife, Adele Lattier Scott; his children, John T. Scott and wife Sue, Lisa S. Mitchell and husband J.R., Donna S. Plunkett and husband Tommy, and Micheal C. Scott and wife Karen; his step-children, Jodi S. Jinks and husband Tommy, Molly S. Giering and husband Greg, and R. David Sibley and wife Robin; his sister, Sue Scott Sklar and husband Sonny; his 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jason Hayden, John Thomas Scott, Kyle Scott, Thomas Plunkett, Austin Scott, Triston Mitchell and stepson, David Sibley. Honorary pallbearers will be C.D. Brazzel, Houston Cook, Billy Garland, Andrew Maggio, and Sonny Sklar. In lieu of flowers please send a donation in Calvert's memory to St. Mary's school or to the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
