Funeral service for Alice Morvan Davis will be held 1 PM, Monday, December 31, 2007 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Carson LaCaze and Rev. James Foster officiating. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches, LA. Visitation will be Sunday, December 30, 2007, from 5 PM until 9 PM with a rosary at 7 PM and visitation on Monday, December 31, 2007 from 8 AM until 12 Noon in the funeral home.
Mrs. Davis, 97, of Shreveport, LA, passed away Friday, December 28, 2007, at Grace Home in Shreveport, LA.
Mrs. Davis was a born in Robeline, La. on November 2, 1910. She was a homemaker and a seamstress all of her life. She was a devout Catholic the and was first a member of St. Anne Catholic Church at Spanish Lake, where she met her husband. She later was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Powhatan for many years and was a member of the alter Society and cooked for a lot of the priest. She later moved to Natchitoches and became a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception. In l995, She became very ill and moved to Shreveport to live with her daughter at Live Oak Retirement Center, and lived there for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, James Davis; parents, Leon Morvan and Emma Pleasant Morvan; sister, Leola Davis; brother, Otis Morvan.
She is survived by her four daughters, Mary Page and husband Dewey of Natchitoches, LA, Irma Harper, Effie Patrick and husband Bryce, Peggy LaCaze and husband Dennis all of Shreveport, LA; one son, Joe Davis and wife Patricia of Shreveport, LA; twenty grandchildren,
thirty-five great-grandchildren, and thirty-nine great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
She was such a loving person and dearly loved so much by her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Daniel Page, Ronnie Davis, Wendell Cox, Tommy Cox, Howard DeYoung, and nephew, Bobby Morvan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Davis and Isadore Davis.
