Rosa Mae Vaughn McCoy, age 63, of Campti, La., died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Christus Schumpert Highland in Shreveport, La. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, January 18, 2008. The funeral service will be at Living Faith Assembly at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2008, with Rev. Roland Smith officiating. Interment will be at St. Titus Cemetery in Campti, La.
Mrs. Rosa was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a true saint, one who spent her time praying for her family and friends. She was a member of the Women of Warfare at the City of Refuge Ministries. She loved children, and taught them to strive to achieve higher education. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace McCoy, Jr.; her parents, Ebenezer Vaughn and Caroline Waldrup Vaughn; three sisters, Fannie Mae Smith, Ella Mae Telsee, and Velma Waldrup; and three brothers, Fred Vaughn, Sr., R.C. Vaughn, and Elbert Vaughn, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Grant and husband Kendrick of Natchitoches, La.; one son, Reginald McCoy and wife Anitra of Campti, La.; seven grandchildren, Joseph Nash, Sr. of Natchitoches, La., Candies Bush of Clarence, La., Akeem Isaac of Campti, La., Arika Isaac of Campti, La., Arthur Isaac of Campti, La., Dominic Gistarb of Natchitoches, La., and Christopher Gistarb of Natchitoches, La.; five great grandchildren, De'kayta Alex, Nautyca Alex, Joseph Nash, Jr., Ca'juanze' Bush, and Joshua Nash; two sisters, Loudester Howell of Kilgore, Tx. and Anna Marie Santiago of Natchitoches, La.; and five sister-in-law’s, Mary Jo Vaughn of Campti, La., Virginia McCoy of Houston, Tx., Verna Williams of Houston, Tx., Sadie McCoy of Dallas, Tx., and Vera Holden of Natchitoches, La.
