A service to honor the life of Mr. Jessie Gibson will be 2 pm Monday, November 19, 2012 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Johnson and Bro Tony Moran officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Marthaville, Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mr. Jessie Robert (Bobby) Gibson, 71 years of age, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Alexandria VA Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born June 26, 1941 in Verda, LA to John David and Lillie Mae Breedlove Gibson. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Before his illness, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Some of his favorite times were spent with his grandchildren.
His love for his country was no secret. When you passed his home, you always saw his flag flying with pride for all to see. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Berry Gibson; daughters and their spouses, Lisa Lemoine and Neal Monnette III of Robeline, Terri and William Cruse of Marthaville, and Laurie and Jr. Barnard of Marthaville; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Jim (Pollock) Matthews, Richard LaCaze, Lewis Roge’, Jerry Mitchwithch, Duncan Stoker and Terrence Stoker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sherill Milner, William (Bill)) McMillan, E.C. (Sonny) Weeks, James Carter, Joe Berry, Albert Berry, James Berry, Troylin Nelson and Daniel (Foots) Robinson.
