Funeral services to honor the life of James H. “Jack” Nelson will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, the 13th of December 2012, in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with Bro.Clyde Miley and Bro. Joel Johnson to officiate. Burial will follow in Lambertown Cemetery in Robeline. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches.
Mr. Nelson, age 83, passed away on Monday, the 10th of December 2012 in Natchitoches Community Care Center. Jack was born on the 16th of March 1929 in Robeline. He served his country with the United States Army. He spent his lifetime working for the railroad traveling the states before retiring to his home near Robeline.
He is preceded in death by his first grandchild, Taylor Cole Nelson.
He is survived and surrounded by his wife of 60 years Delores Welborn Nelson; his son, Jim Nelson and wife Beth; his grandchildren, Katie Nelson Arthur and husband Monty, Christina Nelson Johnson and husband Josh, Cody Nelson and wife Tricia; his six grandchildren, Tucker Arthur, Anna Kate Arthur, Cooper Johnson, Cole Johnson, Matson Nelson and Adrian Nelson.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the love and kindness showed to Jack during his later years to Dr. Archie Breazeale, Dr. Steven Kautz, Shemille Johnson, Winter and Mona and the rest of the staff at Natchitoches Community Care Center and to the staff of Hospice of Natchitoches.
In lieu of floral contributions, donations made in Jack’s name may be made to the Natchitoches Junior Livestock Club, P.O. Box 86, Natchitoches, La. 71457. He spent countless hours during retirement working with the Natchitoches Fair and working with his grandchildren in the 4-H club.
