Betty Rodgers Dove

Funeral services for Betty (Rodgers) Dove will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, December 31, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. John Foster and Jeff Dove officiating. Interment will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery, Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 5 pm – 8 pm and from 12 pm until service time Monday. Betty was born September 28, 1933 and passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at her home in the Oak Grove Community in Natchitoches. Betty worked at Dixie Food Store before attending Natchitoches Trade School in 1974 and completed the LPN curriculum in 1975. She attended Northwestern State University and was a 1987 graduate earning her Associate Degree of Nursing. Betty worked at the Natchitoches Parish Hospital as a Registered Nurse for 30 years. During that time, she worked labor and delivery, surgery, emergency room and long term care. She was a life time member of The Oak Grove Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She loved to fish, sew, quilt and spend time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Glen Dove; son, Richard Dove, Sr.; daughters, Glenda Corley, Donna Corona, son-in-law, Kenneth Sims; grandchildren, Amanda Lord, Katie Gerlinger, Jennifer Dove, Brett Sims, Robert “Bo” Corley, Jr., Richard “Cooter” Dove, Jr., Derek Sims, Ryan Richard, Samantha Richard, and Joey Corona; 23 great grandchildren; brothers, William “Billy” Rodgers and Roland Rodgers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Karen Corley and Dianne Sims; her parents, Charlie and Laura Rodgers; sister, Dorothy Dollar; and brothers; Marvin Rodgers, Gerald Rodgers and Carroll Rodgers. Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons, Brett Sims, Robert “Bo” Corley, Jr., Richard “Cooter” Dove, Jr., Derek Sims, Ryan Richard; nephews, Kevin Rodgers and Darren Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Joey Corona, Shane Lord; nephew, Dennis Dove, Dean Dove, Mickey Dove, Jeff Dove, Ronald Wayne Dove, Malcolm Dove; and special family friends, Sherriff, Victor Jones, Jackie Malone, Lyle Ross, E.J. Stephens, E.L. Moss, Ronnie Vascocu and George Cannon. The Dove family would like to thank the American Cancer Society, Willis Knighton Cancer Center, Dr. Robert Nicholson and staff, and Hospice of Natchitoches for the care and compassion they gave Betty.
