Harold M. Stephens, Sr.

February 2, 1931 — December 30, 2012

A service to honor the life of Mr. Harold M. Stephens, Sr. will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Beeman officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Oak Grove Methodist Cemetery, Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2013 and Friday morning prior to the service at Blanchard St. Denis. Mr. Stephens, 81 years of age, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. He was born February 2, 1931 to the late Walter Lee Stephens and the late Allie McDonald Stephens in Natchitoches, LA. Harold proudly served his country and retired from the United States Air Force after more than 20 years of service. Tours of duty during his military service included England, Japan and Thailand. After retirement from military service, he worked as an accountant for several businesses in Alexandria and Natchitoches. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed by family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 60 years, Marjorie Ball Stephens; son, Harold M. Stephens, Jr. of Natchitoches; daughter, Jacquelyn Stephens Daenen and her husband Dale of Alexandria; granddaughters, Courtney Daenen of Alexandria, and Sarah VanMol of Alexandria, three precious great grand children Katelyn, Miles and Grey. He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Stephens Anding of Natchitoches; brother, Thomas Warren Stephens of Natchitoches and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents as well as brothers, Wallace, Carlton and Louis Stephens and his sisters Ollie Stephens Legg, Ora Stephens Self and Naomi Stephens Cook. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mike Byles, Curtis Anding, Reese Stephens, Darnell Edwards, Shannan Daenen, and Charles Cook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Harold Stephens, Sr.’s name be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the American Alzheimer's Association-Louisiana, 910 Pierremont Road, Ste. 410, Shreveport, LA 71106
