Earnest "Johnny" Martin

Funeral services for Earnest Doyle Martin will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Goldonna Baptist Church in Goldonna, LA with Rev. Doyle McGrew, Rev. Jason Womack, and Rev. Rickie Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Goldonna Cemetery in Goldonna, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm on January 9, 2013 at Goldonna Baptist Church in Goldonna, LA until service time Thursday. Earnest Martin, “Johnny”, 74 years of age, passed away January 6, 2013. Earnest was born July 14, 1938 to the late Edward Martin and Lula Noble Martin in Shreveport, LA. Johnny was a selfless and compassionate man. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He never met a stranger, and was a master at holding a conversation. He was a father to many, and was always willing to forgive the wrongs of others. Johnny enjoyed to play his guitar as often as possible, loved to do woodworking, was a great mechanic, and enjoyed fishing. All that said, his greatest joy was his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He worked for over 20 years at the Placid Oil Company, and also served a four year term on the Natchitoches Parish Police Jury Dist. #7. He was a devout man who had a strong faith in God, and served as a deacon in the Baptist church. He will be dearly missed. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nelda Ann Brown Martin; his daughter, Ann Brown and husband Ricky of Dodson, LA; four sons, Yancy Martin and wife Margaret of Saline, LA, Wesley Martin of Goldonna, LA, Jimmy Martin and wife Rachal of Montgomery, LA, and Billy Martin and wife Tanya of Goldonna, LA; seven grandchildren, Danna Martin Allen and husband Thomas, Bridget Martin, Paige Brown, Billy Earl Martin, Sylvia Martin, Hannah Brown, and Gracie Brown; two great grandchildren, T.J. Allen and Tyler Allen; and four sisters, Ella Mae Hickman of Hall Summit, LA, Bobbie Valdez of Hall Summit, LA, Robbie Huffman of Bronson, TX, and Melba Caro of Lubbock, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Martin and Lula Noble Martin. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Kenneth Martin, James Floyd Martin, Jimmy Martin, Harold Martin, Wayne Gourdon, Rocky Curry, Ronald Dove and Keith Gates. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Martin, Donald Martin, Roger Dove, Charles Weaver, Charles Cloud, and Charles Pullig.
