Clara Rachal

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Clara Rachal will be 11 am Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, LA. Rev Adam Travis will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Augustine Catholic Church mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 9 am until 10:30 am at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10 am in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Rachal, 88 years of age, passed away December 30, 2012 in San Francisco, CA. She was born February 26, 1924 to the late Henry Sylvie and the late Anna Sarpy Sylvie Roque. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ellis Joseph Rachal; a step father, Arman Roque; and brother, Henry J. Sylvia. Those left to cherish her memory include her nephew, Henry S. Sylvia and his wife Renee Rachal Isidore Sylvia of Chino Hills, CA; great nephew, Jarrod Sylvia and great niece, Jenny Sylvia; as well as numerous extended family members. Clara was a lively and vibrant woman. She and Ellis would enjoy dining out in the San Francisco area with family and friends, and especially enjoyed celebrating New Years Eve at local restaurants. Clara enjoyed dressing up for any occasion whether it was work related (over 30 years with Saks Fifth Ave) or a night out with Ellis. Her relationship with Ellis was one of laughter and playful arguments, likened to a comedy duo. Although they never had children, she always treated her extended family as if they were her own. Clara was a devout catholic and practicing her faith was very important. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She loved attending and celebrating baptisms, first communions and weddings, etc. with her family members. She was a loving and caring God-Mother as well, and will be dearly missed.
