Funeral services for Archie Willie Bryant will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, the 12th of January 2013 at the New Salem Baptist Church in Crews with Reverend Jared Little to serve as celebrant under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Burial will follow in the St. Maurice Cemetery. Visitation will be be Friday evening at the church at 5 p.m. and continue until the service the following day.
Mr. Bryant, age 89 of Montgomery, passed away on Tuesday, the 8th of January 2013 in the VA Medical Center in Pineville. He was born on the 8th of January 1924 to Willie and Martha Bryant. He was veteran of United States Army serving during World War II. He worked as commercial fisherman and had many other jobs within the Montgomery community.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Bryant; his parents, Willie and Martha Bryant; his son, James Anthony Bryant; his grandchildren, Kenneth Ray Gorum and Rolinda Gay Wise; his sisters, Helen, Mary, Patsy, Geraldine, Madgeline and Sally; and his brothers, Henry and Arthur Ray.
He is survived by his sons, Cecil Roy Bryant and wife Charlotte of St. Maurice and Joe Junior Bryant and wife Kathy of Crews; his daughters, Willie Jean Gorum and husband Donald of Minden, Rose Marie Mooney and husband Terry of Verda, and Deborah Ann Meredith and husband Robert of Montgomery; his sister, Marguerite Thompson of Montgomery; his brother, Roy Glen Weaver of Montgomery; his twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Gorum, Justin Wise, Christopher Simmons, Terrance Bryant, Dylan Bryant, Derek Lambert, and Clayton Fletcher.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil D. Bryant and Terry Mooney II.
