Howard W. Riggs

Funeral service for Howard W. Riggs will be held 10 AM Thursday, February 28, 2008 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Rev. Allen Garsee officiating. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery at Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from 5 PM until 9 PM and on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 8 AM until service time in the funeral home. Mr. Riggs, 75, of Natchitoches, La., died Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La. He was a native of Hoisington, Kansas. He was retired owner operator of Sibley Lake Marina and formerly worked as a derrick hand for several drilling companies. He was a member of Grand Ecore Baptist Church. He was a veteran of Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thee David Riggs and Sudie Pearl Greer Riggs. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bertie Kirkland Riggs of Natchitoches, La.; two sons, Joey Riggs and wife Diane of Shreveport, La. and Richard Riggs of Killington, Vt.; one granddaughter, Lisa Diane Riggs of Victoria, Tx.; one sister, Helen Stoops of Springfield, Mo. Pallbearers will be Joey Riggs, Mark Riggs, David Riggs, Philip Morgan, Jackie Willhite, and Lester Keeth. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Baker, Jr., Robert Morgan, Jerry Smith, and Thomas King.
