Andrew “Andy” Elton Montgomery, 84, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at St. Frances Cabrini surrounded by his family and friends.
Andy was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Over his lifetime, he served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and upon retirement from the Air Force, he started Andy’s Preferred Products, of which he worked for 20 years. Later he worked for Edward’s Postal Service until he was in his 80’s. Andrew was a native of Bellwood and resided in Provencal. He loved working and found great strength from his dedication to all the jobs he performed. He was always willing to help anyone in any way he could. Andy will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson Montgomery and Minnie M. (Key) Montgomery; brothers, Othra “Dock” Montgomery, James Estus Montgomery, and Elmer Travis Montgomery; sisters, Earle Inez Montgomery Givens and Irma Evon Montgomery Graves.
Those left to cherish Andrew’s memory are his wife, Cerrie Lou Humble Montgomery of Provencal, LA; daughters, Judy Gayle Montgomery Trichel of Goldonna, LA and Joy Louise Montgomery Artigue of Port Barre, LA; son, David Wayne Montgomery of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Janice Artigue of Port Barre, Zenghi Montgomery, Davey Montgomery, and Zareena Montgomery all of Houston, TX; great grandchildren Anthony Ramirez of Houston and shortly expecting Baehn Scott Ledoux.
The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to Mr. “Tiny” Deville for being there for all of them and everything he has done.
A service to honor his life will be 11 am Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Old Bellwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Blanchard St. Denis.
