Nelson Anthony Maricelli, age 88, of Natchitoches, La., passed away Monday, March 3, 2008, at the hospital in Natchitoches, La. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, in Natchitoches, La., where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, March 7, 2008. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 PM during the visitation. Directly after the rosary service, a life celebration for Mr. Nelson will be held. The funeral service will be at Nativity Catholic at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 8, 2008 , with Rev. Wade De Costa officiating. Interment will be at Campti Catholic Cemetery in Campti, La.
Mr. Nelson was originally from Campti, La. He was a kind and outgoing man, and very family oriented. He was a true southern gentleman. He was a very talented musician. He loved gospel music, and used his talents to bless God and people. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was very proud of his service to his country. He served 3 and one half years and was a master sergeant when he left the service. He served as a rural mail carrier after he left the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Maricelli and Mary Landeaux Maricelli; one brother, Lloyd Maricelli; and one daughter, Barbara Barnhill.
He is survived by his wife Peggy Maricelli; two daughters, Jeannie Curtis and husband Doug of Many, La., and Judy Broadway and husband Ronny of Many, La.; one sister, Mary Marceau and husband Ken of Omaha, NE; two brothers, James "Jim" Maricelli and wife Sue of Houston, Tx., and John Maricelli and wife Colleen of Missoula, Mt.; seven grandchildren, Scott Broadway of Many, LA, Twila McElhaney of Southaven, Ms., Bobby Lynn King of Memphis, Tn., Brett Broadway of Many, La., Kim Hicks of Hornbeck, La., Monica Lambert of Beech Grove, Tn., and Allison Danos of Many, La.; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
