Funeral services for Marry Ella Nott Mangrum will be held 11Am Friday, March 7,2008 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Fr. Ryan Humphries officiating. Graveside service will be at 2PM Friday March 7, 2008 in Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, La. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2008 from 5 PM until 8 PM with the rosary at 7 PM with visitation on Friday March 7,2008 from 8 AM until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Mangrum ,88, of Shreveport, La., passed Monday, March 3, 2008 in the Natchitoches Regional Long Term Care Unit at Natchitoches, La.
Mary was born in New Orleans on August 31, 1919 and was a life long resident of Shreveport until 2005 when she moved to Natchitoches and resided at Natchitoches Assisted Living until just recently. She attended Byrd High and graduated in 1937. During her lifetime she worked for Selber Brothers, Palis Royal and Dixie Stores in Shreveport. Later in life she was employed by the City of Shreveport as Coordinator of the Golden Age Club and Senior Citizens Organization . Mary enjoyed working with people and planning activities, which ranged from playing bingo to dances and costume parties. She had a life long love of animals and spent most of her latter years caring for her cats. The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. John Hogg, Ms. Ola Hamilton and the staff of both Natchitoches Assisted Living and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Long Term Care for their excellent care and dedication to Mary's well being.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Millard Oran Mangrum; parents Ivan Marshall Nott, and Catherine Elizabeth Nott of Shreveport; sister Catherine Stetson of Shreveport; brother Ivan Nott, Jr of Baton Rouge. She is survived by one son Millard O. Mangrum II, and his wife Barbara of Natchitoches, LA; two grandchildren, Emily Prudhomme and husband Eric of Baton Rouge, LA; Elizabeth Mangrum of Shreveport, LA; one great grandchild James Evan Prudhomme of Baton Rouge, LA; sister-in-law Mary Nott of Baton Rouge, LA; one niece Leslie McLaughlin and husband Mike of Baton Rouge, LA: two nephews, Dale Stetson and wife Ellen of Blanchard, LA and Craig Stetson and wife Amy of Shreveport, LA
Pallbearers will be Burley Johnson, Mike Pierce, Russ Danzy, Kirk Leone, Allen Dawson, and Larry Phagan.
Honorary Pallbearer is Morton Phillip Henderson Jr. In lieu flowers the family request memorials be made to Louisiana Methodist Children's Home, P.O. box 929 Ruston, LA 71273.
