Jane Allen Prudhomme DeBlieux, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the
Terrace Home in Bossier City, LA. She was born February 17, 1932 to Roy Allen, Sr. and Ethel
Gahn Allen of Bayou Chicot, Louisiana. Jane moved to Natchitoches at age 16 to enroll in
Northwestern State College. It was there that she met and wed James Alphonse Prudhomme III
of Bermuda, LA, with whom she had five children.
Survivors include her children, James Alphonse Prudhomme IV and wife, Maryellen Donovan
Prudhomme of Avon, CT, Sandra Haynie and husband, Dr. Michael Haynie of Shreveport,
LA, Kathy Guin and husband, Terry Guin of Bermuda, LA, Renee Gresham and husband,
Kent Gresham of Bermuda, LA and Michael Prudhomme and wife, Lisa Ochoa Prudhomme of
Bermuda, LA.
Grandchildren include: Dylan Payne (wife, Courtney), Scott Payne (wife, Shannon), James A.
Prudhomme V, Christopher Prudhomme, Zachary Quiros, Dylan Williams, Tori Prudhomme, Dr.
Marshall Haynie (wife, Amanda), Dr. Caroline Haynie and Clare Haynie.
Great grandchildren include: Sophie Payne and Andie Payne.
Survivors also include, sister, Sandy and husband, Melvin McBee of Austin, Texas; and brother,
Roy Allen and wife, Johnnie, of Bayou Chicot, LA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jane was fortunate to find love again when she married Hertzog DeBlieux, in 1980. Jane and
Hertzog enjoyed 10 wonderful years together until his death in 1990.
Other survivors include her stepchildren: Larry DeBlieux, Gary DeBlieux, Mary Lou
Wilkerson, Judy Knecht, Jean DeBlieux Gill, Jimmy DeBlieux, Tommy DeBlieux, Marty Berry,
their spouses, children and grandchildren.
Jane was a lifelong member of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Beta Sigma
Phi, Natchitoches Service League sustainer, and a Lifetime Rose of the Kappa Alpha Order. She
worked several years as a nurse at Sills-Cook Clinic and as a Visiting School Nurse with the
Natchitoches Parish School Board.
Anyone who met Jane knew that she was blessed with an inner beauty that matched her physical
beauty. She was loved by all the children whose lives she touched, and her home was always a
favorite gathering place.
A Catholic mass to celebrate Jane’s life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the
Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Natchitoches, with burial to follow at Memory
Lawn. Visitation will be at Blanchard-St.Denis Funeral Home Wednesday, March 13, from 5:00 to 7:00. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00.
Her family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Natchitoches Assisted Living and the Terrace Home in Bossier City, LA. Special thanks go to Dr. Richard Haynie and the wonderful nurses of St. Joseph Hospice. Also included in thanks are the many good friends and relatives
who continued to visit Jane after she developed dementia, especially Dick Williamson and neighbors, Jennifer and Chris Maggio and Terri and Steve Wells.
Donations in Jane’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Minor Basilica of the
Immaculate Conception, or a charity of one’s choice.
