Funeral services for Jackie Carter Holmes will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Robert Rowe officiating. Interment will follow at Marthaville Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on May 11, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Jackie Holmes, 83 years of age, passed away May 7, 2013. She was born January 6, 1930 to the late Jack Perrien Carter and Iva Parish Carter in Clifton, TX. Jackie was known for being a great cook with a feisty personality. She loved her church and church family dearly. She enjoyed holding long conversations with her family and friends, and was always thrilled to spend the holidays at family get-togethers. She had a great fondness for cats as well. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her sister, Faye Greenwood of Natchitoches, LA; nephews, Bryan Greenwood of Morgan City, LA and Sean Greenwood and Melanie Courville of Lafayette, LA; a niece, Laura Eaves and husband Marty of Belmont, LA; a special friend, Fern Perot of Natchitoches; her church family of the Many Church of Christ in Many, LA; and numerous cousins, friends, neighbors, and her much loved cat, Rascal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William "Bill" Holmes; her parents; and step fathers, Ishmael Cobb and Dewey "Dood" Dove. The family would like to thank Dr. Kathleen Kautz, Natchitoches Community Care Center personnel and Harmony Home Health personnel for their care of Mrs. Jackie.
