A celebration of life will be held for Kerry Friedman at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 08, 2013 at
Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, with Rev. Thomas Rush officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
Kerry James Friedman, 53 years of age, passed away on Tuesday, June 04, 2013, in Natchitoches, LA. He was born January 23, 1960, in Baton Rouge, LA, and lived his entire life in Natchitoches. Kerry graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Natchitoches in 1978, where he enjoyed participating in high school sports, including being the starting center on the 1977 State Championship Football Team. He attended Northwestern State University, and Bristow Academy helicopter flight school, where he obtained his helicopter pilots license. Kerry was employed with Chem Air.
Besides his family, Kerry’s greatest pleasure in life was participating in outdoor activities. He was a true Louisiana sportsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing with equal enthusiasm. Kerry also loved Cane River, where he was an active member of the Cane River Yacht Club. A day skiing, surfing and knee boarding with his son James, where he never had to put on a pair of shoes, would be his perfect day.
Kerry is survived by his son, James Lee Friedman of New Orleans; his father, Samuel J. Friedman and wife, Edwina Friedman of Natchitoches, LA; his mother, Cecile Morris Murphy and her husband, Dwane Murphy of Natchitoches, LA; his sister, Elizabeth Cecile Edwards, her husband, Stephen Edwards, and their children, Ian Edwards and Ava Edwards of Greenwich, Connecticut; his brother, Greg Friedman, his wife, Hanna Smith Friedman, and their child Erin Friedman of Natchitoches, LA; and numerous other friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sylvan N. Friedman and Elizabeth Higginbotham Friedman; and his maternal grandparents, David H. Morris and Opal Hixson Morris.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Randy Price, Ian Guidroz, Al Bell, David Mathies, Steve Hilton, Tony Khoury, Bryan Grayson and Hampton Friedman.
Honorary pallbearers are Paul Foshee, Jr., Justin Foshee, William Carnahan, Roger Kromis, Bobby Mancil and Calvin Braxton.
