Robert "Mitch" Merwin Mitcham

Funeral services for Robert M. Mitcham will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Marthaville, LA with Rev. Ed Fenton, Rev. Melvin Smith, and Chris Bruce officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on July 6, 2013 at Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Marthaville, LA. Robert Mitcham, 91 years of age, passed away July 5, 2013. He was born December 7, 1921 to the late Thomas Franklin Mitcham and Katie Scott Mitcham in Leesville, LA. "Mitch", as he was known, was a kind and compassionate man. He was always a good friend, loved to crack a joke whenever he could, and enjoyed singing with all of his heart. He was a member of Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Marthaville, LA for over 38 years, where he served as song leader and as a Deacon. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Nellie Faye Jordan Mitcham of Marthaville, LA; one son, William "Butch" Bruce and wife Brenda of Marthaville, LA; four grandchildren, Christopher Jackson Bruce and wife Patty, Angela Katherine Dawson and husband Allen, William Scott Bruce and wife Crystal, and Angela Faye Townsend; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Clarice Simmons of Port Author, TX and Katie Copeland and husband Roy of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Franklin Mitcham and Katie Scott Mitcham; and five brothers, Paul Mitcham, Claude Mitcham, Hubert Mitcham, Johnnie Mitcham, and Carl Mitcham.
