Mary Vivian Sers

A mass of Christian burial for Mary Vivian Sers will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Melrose, LA with Fr. Thomas Paul officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Melrose, LA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 11:00 am on July 12, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Mary Vivian Sers passed away on July 8, 2013 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. She was born on January 4, 1926, to William “Billy” and Clotilde LaCaze in Cypress, LA. As a homemaker Vivian loved to sew, cook (trying many new recipes), make crafts and garden. She lovingly cared for many animals in her lifetime. She was a long time member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and maintained a lifelong association with St Augustine's Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle. She was a member of the Christian Mothers’ Society and the Altar Society. She is preceded in death by her parents Billy and Chotilde Lacaze, her siblings, Willie, Louis, Rosa Lee, Cammie, and Carrie and her grandson, Matthew. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Louis Sers, Jr., her son, LTC (Ret) Joseph S. Sers (Soni) of Stafford, VA, and her granddaughter, Stephanie A. Sers of Natchitoches, and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and extended family. Vivian will be greatly missed by her family, friends, caregivers at Natchitoches Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of Natchitoches, and all who knew her.
