Clifton McDermit

Clifton Ferman McDermit, age 93, of Colfax, La., passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Colfax Reunion Nursing Home in Colfax, La. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La., where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, April 18, 2008. Funeral services will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 19, 2008 . Interment will be at St. Maurice Cemetery. Mr. Clifton was always a hard worker. He worked his whole life in heavy construction and as a farmer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a very gentle man by nature. He loved to fish and eat the fish that he caught. He will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, David McDermit and Felicity Rose Gorum McDermit; one step-son, Huey Dubois; and one sister, Adlue Terres. He is survived by his wife Lillie McDermit; one daughter, Barbara M. Tassin and husband Willard of Lecompte, La.; two step-sons, Leslie Dubois and wife Sarah of Destrehan, La. and Lynn Dubois and wife Judy of Robeline, La.; one grandchild, Michael Ferdinand of Houma, La.; two great-grandchildren, Patrick and Angel Ferdinand; numerous step-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Harris and husband Fred of Concord, Ma.; one step-daughter-in-law, Sybil Dubois; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mike Ferdinand, Patrick Ferdinand, Donald White, J.P. James, Thomas Dubois, Leslie Dubois, and Danny Grayson.
