Carolyn Paulk Bowker died at home on April 23, 2008. Born July 10, 1922, in Arcadia, FL, to the late Curtis Paulk and Alice Smith Paulk, she grew up in Florida, Georgia, and Arkansas. In her later life she also spent time in Florida and Louisiana. In addition to working in a variety of bookkeeping jobs throughout her life and raising her family, she found time to pursue her multiple interests in history, antiques, genealogy, and gardening. She also enjoyed bridge, and was a caring owner of a series of canine companions.
She was the widow of the late Dan McGraw Bowker, and is survived by her five children. They include Dr. Charles Manning (Amelia) of Naples, FL, Cecile Richard of Shreveport, LA, William Bowker ( Linda) of Frankfort, KY, Susan Bowker of Houma, LA, and Dr. Dayna Lee (Dr. Aubra) of Natchitoches, LA., twelve grandchildren, Marc Richard, Michael Richard, Todd Richard, Carter Manning, Bradley Manning, Daniel Bowker, Andrew Bowker, Larinda Matherne, James Strother, Richard Strother, Jeremy Seale, and Lauren Gonzalez, twenty-one great grand-children, and two great-great grandchilden.
Services and interment will be private. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Winnfield, LA.
