A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Gladys McFerren will be 1 pm on Thursday August 8, 2013 at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with Father Ryan Humphries serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fern Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday August 7, 2013 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 pm on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. McFerren, 78 years of age passed away August 4, 2013 in Shreveport, LA. She was born March 2, 1935 to Joseph and Alice Beaudoin in Melrose. She was a member of Immaculate Conception and worked as a caregiver for many in the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alice Beaudoin; sisters, Bernice Beaudoin, Edwina “Dee” Livingston and Anease Sorgee; and brothers, Phillip and Allen Beaudoin.
She is survived by her husband, Walter McFerren; children, Terrol Kinard, Eugenia “Sally” Abraham, Gloria Kerry and Ervin Jordan; brother, Raymond Beaudoin; and sister, Maize Williams. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: John Morris, James Sorgee, Ed McQueen, Stevie Kinard, Adam Walker and Matthew Padgett. Honorary pallbearer will be Brandon Dobbs.
The family would like to especially thank the doctors and nurses at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and Willis Knighton – Pierremont for the care and compassion given during such a difficult time.
