Gladys Marie Sims

Funeral services for Gladys Marie Sims will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Matthew Pagels officiating. Interment will follow at Lambertown Cemetery in Robeline, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on August 31, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Gladys Sims, 83 years of age, passed away August 29, 2013. Gladys was born June 18, 1930 to the late Morris Lane Smith and Ellie Punchard Smith in Natchitoches, LA. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, and tremendous friend to her family and all who knew her. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking for her family, and occasionally playing bingo with her friends. She was a wonderful caregiver to her children and extended family. She had a kind and compassionate heart, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Ruben Sims of Natchitoches, LA; one daughter, Beverly Lester and husband Marvin of Natchitoches, LA; three sons, Arnold "Dale" Sims and wife Frances of Natchitoches, LA, Ruben Frank Sims of Frierson, LA, and Kenneth Dewayne Sims and wife Lucy of Hattiesburg, MS; one sister, Geneva Young of Bossier City; one brother, Shelton Naron of Natchitoches, LA; eight grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Morris Lane Smith and Ellie Elsie Punchard Smith; one grandson, Adam Sims; one sister; and one brothers. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Doug Lester, Mark Lester, Shea Sims, Luke Sims, Derek Sims, Brett Sims.
