Betty Sue Choate Key

Services for Betty Sue Choate Key will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Natchitoches, with the Rev. Perry Webb officiating, and the Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino assisting. Interment will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends between 5 and 7 p.m., Monday, May 5, in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 508 Second St. Mrs. Key, 75, died at approximately 7:45 p.m., Friday, May 2, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, following a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Natchitoches, she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Chapter AG PEO, a founding member of Chapter AU PEO, the Service League of Natchitoches, and the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Society. She was a graduate of Northwestern State University, a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, and she was an owner of Choate’s Interiors and Gifts. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jim Bob Key; her daughters, Pamela Key DeBlieux and her husband, Jimmy, of Natchitoches; Susan Key Grayson and her husband, Paul, of McKinney, TX; and Patricia Key Repp and her husband, Scott, of McKinney, TX; two sisters, Patricia Choate Smith of Natchitoches and Martha Choate Ryan of Baton Rouge; and her eight grandchildren, Lesley Anne DeBlieux of Dallas; Emily Elizabeth DeBlieux and Andrew Michael DeBlieux of Natchitoches; Mary Elizabeth Grayson and David Paul Grayson of McKinney, TX; and John Louis Repp, Anne Elizabeth Repp and William Richard Repp of McKinney, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, L. J. and Hawty Smith Choate of Natchitoches. Pallbearers will be Andrew DeBlieux, David Grayson, Bill Brent, Robert DeBlieux, Steve Horton, and Robby Lucky. Honorary Pallbearers will be Judge Marvin Gahagan, Kerlin Sutton, L. J. Melder Sr., Robert Holladay, Dr. Joseph Bienvenu, Joe Pierson, Jr., and Fred Urban. The family requests memorials be made to the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, 4301 W. Markham St., Slot 816, Little Rock, AR 72205-9985.
