Funeral service for Raborn Douglas Rains will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Joshua Currie, Rev. Bruce Mitchell, Rev. Wayne Morrow, and Rev. Butch Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Central Cemetery in Robeline, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm unitl 8:00 pm on September 6, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Raborn Rains, 90 years of age, passed away September 5, 2013. He was born October 13, 1922 to the late Lance Rains and Myrtie Cole Rains in Belmont, LA. Raborn was a loving father, husband, and friend. He was a resident of Natchitoches most of his life. In his latter years, he lived at the Natchitoches Assisted Living where he was loved by his friends and caretakers. He served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre. He worked many years for the Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole Officer and later as a supervisor for the Natchitoches Support Enforcement Services.
He was loyal to his church, Trinity Baptist of Natchitoches, where he served as a deacon for many years and chaired many committees.
Raborn loved to sing gospel, participating in many singing groups, and bring a smile to peoples faces by telling jokes. He enjoyed to play bingo as often as he could. He was loved tremendously by his family and friends, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Camille Moran and husband Craig of Natchitoches, LA; and one sister, Lois Norman in Napa, CA; and numerouse nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clothilde Wagley Rains; his parents, Lance and Myrtie Cole Rains; two sisters; and five brothers.
Pallbearers will be Guy Snelling, Dean Dove, Kenny Durr, David Beard, Sherman "Bo" Wilson, and Dwayne Garlington. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacon Body and the members of the Pappy Weeks Sunday School Class of Trinity Baptist Church of Natchitoches, Louisiana.
