A service to honor the life of Mr. Wesley Ebert, Jr. will be 3 pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Denver Ebert and Dean Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Monday, September 9th at Blanchard St. Denis.
Mr. Ebert, formerly of Natchitoches, Louisiana, passed away at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS on Saturday, September 7, 2013. He was born April 27, 1933 in Chopin, LA to the late Wesley and Susie (Antley) Ebert.
He was a member Calvary Baptist Church in Natchitoches. Mr. Ebert proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and worked as a seaman for the Merchant Marines. He enjoyed bird hunting, working crossword puzzles, traveling and camping. He was a friend to many and never met a stranger.
Survivors include son Daniel Ebert and wife Carla of Marthaville; grandchildren, Meagan Dortlon of Baton Rouge, Wes Ebert, Bailey Ebert both of Natchitoches, and Gracie Ebert of Marthaville; companion Willie Nell McKenzie and her son, Kyle McKenzie both of Tylertown, MS; his special friend Hunter and many, many other friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gervis Ebert; a son, Steve Huffman; sisters, Gracie Tanner, Lathie Olive and Ruby Ebert; brothers, Cecil Ebert, Bill Ebert, and George Ebert; and parents, Wesley Ebert, Sr. and Susie (Antley) Ebert.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Mark Lumpkin, Shawn Rutledge, Wes Ebert, Glenn Ammons, Richard Wyatt and Cecil Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be William Ammons, Wade Ebert, Lowell Ebert, Doug Ebert, Casey Ebert, Grady Ebert, Bailey Ebert, Bennie L. Dove, and Stacy LaCaze.
