Funeral service for Vernon S. Rogers, Jr. will be held 10 AM Thursday, May 15, 2008 in The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints with Bishop Matthew DeFord officiating. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery at Natchitoches, La. with Naval Military Honors. Visitation will be May 14, 2008 from 6 PM until 8:30 PM in Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home and on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 9 AM until service time in the church.
Mr. Rogers, 62, of Natchitoches, La., died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La.
He was a native of Natchitoches, La. He was a retired petty officer first class with 22 years service and was a veteran of Vietnam Era serving in the U. S. Navy. Vernon was a computer genius and helped write computer programs for the Navy. He was also an avid genealogical partner with his Aunt Fern Anisworth and helped identify 36 thousand Ancestors typing them into the computer himself.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Sanders Rogers, Sr.
He is survived by three daughters, Mitzi Ryan and husband Robert, Lora Rogers, Eilene Rogers all of Texarkana, Tx.; six grandchildren, Kaylen Parker, Cody Ryan, Reanna Friley, Hailey Smith, Bryan Smith, Travis Ryan; his mother, Vannie Jewel Clark Rogers of Natchitoches, La.
