Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday September 26, 2013 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA where family and friends will unite to cherish the memory and celebrate the life of Rhea Anne Welock. A private graveside memorial service will take place at a later time in Fern Park Cemetery for the family when placing a headstone to mark the honor of her commencement into eternal life.
Rhea Anne was born in Shreveport, LA on February 11, 1963 to the late Barbra Anne Fair LaCaze of Natchitoches, LA and Wayne Walker of Benton, LA and passed away Sunday September 22, 2013 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 50. Even though Rhea Anne was born and spent the first few years of her life in Shreveport, she always called Natchitoches her home. The move from Shreveport to Natchitoches with her Mother and brother Jeffrey proved to be one of the first distinct defining moments in her life, as this is when she began to form the impenetrable bonds with both her brother Jeffrey, and her grandmother Hazel Fair.
Rhea Anne was a free spirit with an artistic soul, and gifted in every form of expression. This was first noticed, when like most young girls from Natchitoches at the time, she began studying at the Gwen Reese School of Dance. She was eager to quickly learn new and exciting forms of self expression, and discovered a lifelong passion for dance. Her natural ability as a performer and her musicality quickly caught the attention of Mrs. Gwen and Mr. Bob Reese. Having Mrs. Gwen as a mentor for many years while assisting in the dance studio was another defining moment in her life, as the confidence she gained from leading others allowed her to set goals for herself… while the support she received from those she loved gave her a reason to
reach for them. Rhea Anne attended Natchitoches Central High School and Northwestern State University, where she began nurturing the idea her purpose in life was to cultivate her inherent need to do for others. Her ability to make a difference in the lives of others was the realization of her dream, while she enjoyed working as an LPN for a few years.
Rhea Anne’s life was redefined when she lost her brother Jeffrey in an automobile accident, and there was no one more affected or has any one event changed the trajectory of someone’s life than August 30, 1984 did to Rhea Anne. Rhea Anne was devoted to her grandparents; and her decision of March 29 as the date her daughter Aaron would enter this world was her way of paying tribute to her hero and grandfather Orie C. Fair. Anyone who knew Rhea Anne understood what a very special and kindhearted person she truly was and the struggles which come when anyone experiences loss of a loved one, and the pain which accompanies it.
Rhea Anne is survived by her loving daughter Aaron Anne Wise of Alexandria; her brother Charles A. LaCaze Jr. of Natchitoches; her sister Dene’ LaCaze Dauzat and husband David of Arnaudville; her “daddy” Charles A. LaCaze and his wife Linda of Natchitoches; her father Wayne Walker of Benton; her husband Mark Welock of Natchitoches; her niece Tiffani Barkley and husband Scooter of Farmerville; her nephews Jackson and Jonah Dauzat of Arnaudville; her grandniece & grandnephew Hunter and Fisher Barkley of Farmerville; her companion Tim Adams; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and longtime friends. Rhea Anne is preceded in death by her mother, Barbra Anne Fair LaCaze, her grandmother Hazel Pullig Fair, her grandfather Orie C. Fair, and her brother Jeffrey DeWayne Walker.
“What the caterpillar perceives as the end, to the butterfly, is just the beginning."
Her family and friends left to cherish her memory find peace in knowing the final
rotation of her circle of life will find her in Heaven and the presence of her Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ; as daughter to Mamma, granddaughter to Nanny and Papaw, and sister to Jeffrey.
The family would like to thank anyone who has ever made a positive difference in the life of others, as the kindness given to the least of us is how to truly see the evolution of any
society. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to honor Rhea Anne’s life to Holy Angels 10450 Ellerbe Road Shreveport, LA 71106.
