Sammie Guilliams

May 31, 1931 — October 17, 2013

Mrs. Sammie Land Guilliams, age 82, went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2013. Mrs. Guilliams was born May 31, 1931, the first child of Trudie Hanes Land and Adrian Land, in Fairview Alpha, LA. She was an outgoing, Christian woman who, along with her husband Johnny Guilliams, served her Savior in numerous capacities at Campti Baptist Church. The co-owner of G & L Grocery, Mrs. Guilliams dispensed advice, wisdom, and testified about her Lord to all she came in contact with. Mrs. Guilliams was the first woman ever elected to the board of Valley Electric Co-op. She served her district for 15 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Elizabeth Swafford and husband Mark of Natchitoches, LA, Rhonda Ross and husband Roger of Campti, LA, and Martha Alford and husband Kenny of Natchitoches, LA; five grandchildren, LeAnne Cade and husband Jimmy, Mark Swafford, Jr., Billy John Inzer and wife Charity, Rachel Ross, and Jessica Garcia and husband Christopher; six great-grandchildren, Coleman Cade, Keely Cade, Daniel Garcia, Morgan Garcia, Brody Inzer, and Brooklyn Inzer; and one brother, Adrian Land, Jr. and wife Evelyn of Natchitoches, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Guilliams; her parents, Adrian and Trudie Land; and one sister, Janice Losey. Throughout the last few years of her life there were many ladies that were truly a blessing to her. The family would like to express their gratitude to these wonderful women. Carolyn Carpenter was a special blessing to Mrs. Guilliams, and was like an additional daughter to her. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Olan McLaren officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Interment will follow the service at Zion Cemetery in Fairview Alpha, LA.
