Dora Elizabeth Scott Jeansonne was born in Natchitoches, LA on June 1,1929. She was the youngest of eight children born to Oscar M. Scott, Sr. and Emee Breda Scott. Dora graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and attended Normal College. She married Gerald J. Jeansonne, Sr. on December 18, 1948. Dora is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald J. Jeansonne, Sr., her parents, Oscar M. Scott,Sr. and Emee Breda Scott, and siblings, Marie S. Jones, Thomas Emile Scott, Oscar M. Scott, Jr., Lily S. Langford, Theophile N. Scott, Gertrude S. Solomon, and Evelyn S. Parent. Affectionately known to many as DoDo, her house was always open to anyone and everyone. No one ever left her house hungry or without a smile on their face. For Mother, her day was not complete without her daily phone calls from her children and special niece, Janice Scott. In her later years she loved bingo and going to the casino. One of the original Golden Girls at Natchitoches Community Care Center, there was never a dull moment at her table. Many friends became family and showered her with unconditional love. Our Mother leaves behind a legacy of many acts of kindness, always thinking of others first. The family is grateful for the care, comfort and outpouring of love during her recent years and especially her final hours being surrounded by the exceptional staff of Natchitoches Community Care Center, Hospice of Natchitoches, and Dr. Kathleen Kautz. In addition, a sincere thank you to her extended “family” at CHRISTUS Schumpert, Dr. John Hardin and Michelle, Amy Simmons Wynne, Father Thomas, and many more caregivers, who will always hold a special place in our hearts. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cynthia Johnson and husband Burley of Natchitoches, La., Pam Walker and husband Dennis of Natchitoches, La., Jerry Jeansonne and wife Julia of Keithville, La., and Tana Jeansonne Freeman and Luis Saucier of Pineville, La; grandchildren, Brett Johnson, Lauren Sanders, Marcus Jeansonne, Ryan Walker, Jeremey Jeansonne, Allison Walker, Nathan Jeansonne, Grant Freeman, Gentry Freeman, and Koby Saucier; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Addison, Dylan, Evan, Jackson, Ellie Grace, Sophia, Alicia and Brooklynn; sister-in-law, Betty Jeansonne of Perrysburg, Ohio.Dora is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Brett Johnson, Marcus Jeansonne, Ryan Walker, Jeremey Jeansonne, Nathan Jeansonne, and Grant Freeman. DoDo, you will be missed greatly, but we hold dearly the vision of your smile and arms lifted going “cha-ching”.
