Services for Camille Stroud, the former Joyce Camille Lane, will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Natchitoches, with the Rev. Thomas Rush officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. Her children will receive family and friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Stroud, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 3, at 5:07 p.m., at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. A native of Rayville, LA, and a lifelong resident of Natchitoches, she was born Nov. 20, 1928, to James Melvin and Delta Estelle Duckworth Lane. The youngest of four children, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English Education and Educational Administration from Northwestern State University. She began her teaching career at Campti High School in 1950, and retired from Natchitoches Central High School in 1986. She married the love of her life, Terry Monroe Stroud Jr., 1949 in Rayville, and together they raised a daughter, Terrylyn, and a son, Stephen Lane. Mrs. Stroud was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and siblings; and her son-in-law, John Vide Tapp. She leaves her children, Terrylyn Stroud Tapp of Las Vegas, NV; and Stephen Lane Stroud and his wife, Lori, of Rosemary Beach, FL. Her grandchildren, Kathryn Camille Stroud, Elizabeth Lane Stroud, Alison Camille Tapp, Samantha Lane Stroud, and Victoria Castille Stroud, also survive her. Pallbearers will be Fred Crenshaw, Marvin Frasier, Sydney Frederick, Steve Horton, David Kees, David J.J. Lewis, Mike McConathy, and David Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Watson, Billy Plunkett, Edwin Dunahoe, and John Thompson.
