Mary Catherine Taylor

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mary Catherine Taylor will be 10 am Friday, November 29, 2013 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Black Lake with Rev. George Pookkattu serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm – 7 pm on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, November 28th in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Taylor, 66 years of age and a resident of Black Lake, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 in Natchitoches. She was born May 6, 1947 in Pleasant Hill, LA to Jessie and Ottie (Reed) Woods. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Garvis Taylor and two grandchildren, Shelley Kaye Simmons and Kenneth Jay Simmons. She is survived by her daughters, Molly Meshell, Laura Simmons, and Kimberly Smith; sons, James Hinds and Cecil Hinds; sisters, Mary Sims, Juanita Sims, Wanda Minter, Pat White, and Vickie Nixon; brother, Jessie Woods; stepchildren, Willis Taylor, Mark Taylor, Jamie Taylor, Suzette Rowell, and Teresa Spelling. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Terry Hines, Michael Simmons, Dusty Freemyer, Joshua DeLoach, Justin Smith and Daniel White. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Sims, Jack W. Sims and David Cadwallader.
