Funeral services for Lewis M. Youngblood will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Linda Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Marthaville Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Lewis Youngblood, 85 years of age, passed away December 9, 2013. He was born October 30, 1928 in Powhattan, LA. Lewis was born out of the heart of the great depression. He instilled a great responsibility of hard work and spiritual, moral, and ethical values in his family. He was a tremendous care giver to his family, especially his special-needs son, George and his loving wife, Theda. He was a tremendous advocate for supporting Shriners, St. Judes, and other organazations dedicated to supporting special-needs. He was known as "Daddy Poke" amoung his family and friends. The loving example that he set serves as a model for all of us to follow. He loved to garden and work outdoors, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Charles Youngblood of Natchitoches, LA and Dawnelle Lemoine and husband James of Natchitoches, LA; two grandchildren, Shannon Renee Lemoine Frame and husband Jeremy of Fairview Alpha, LA and James Richard Lemoine of Natchitoches; three great grandchildren, Daniel Colter Frame, Madison Elizabeth Lemoine, and Ethan James Lemoine; and one brother, Lehman Youngblood of Idaho Falls, ID.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theda Foshee Youngblood; his son, George Youngblood; his parents, Jesse Reese Youngblood and Eunice Eva Box Youngblood; two sisters, Gaynell Roussell and Janice Sullivan; and three brothers, Maynard Youngblood, Don Youngblood, and Dalton Youngblood.
