Funeral services for Debra Lynn Nugent will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Robeline, LA with Rev. Brian Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Robeline, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on January 6, 2014 at Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church.
“Debbie” Nugent, 56 years of age, passed away January 3, 2014. She was born December 14, 1957 to the late Huey Gooden and Clara Ann Gray Gooden in Natchitoches, LA. Debbie was a devoted wife to her husband, a loving mother to her children, and a kind and caring grandmother to her grandchildren. She was a selfless and caring person who had a strong tenacity for life, and a will to survive that stayed with her to the end. She raised her children with a love and devotion second to none. Often, she would go without, just so her children could have what they needed. She had a wonderful smile that would melt the hearts of those around her, and a strong spirit that helped her make the best of her days. Debbie was a hard worker, putting in almost 20 years at her job at Northwestern State University. She faced whatever life gave her with courage. Debbie was a member of Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Robeline. She left her mark in the lives of all who knew her and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Lee Roy Nugent III and wife Cathy of Shreveport, LA and Samantha Nugent Culberth and husband Paul of Natchitoches, LA; four grandchildren, Christina Nugent, Shaylynn Nugent, Kaylee Nugent, and Paul Aaron Culberth, Jr., all of Natchitoches, LA; one sister, Patti Lee and husband Richie of Senoia, GA; two brothers, Mike Gooden and wife Betty of Natchitoches, LA and Paul Gooden and wife Rose of Natchitoches, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Nugent, II; her parents, Huey Gooden and Clara Gray Gooden; and one daughter, Amanda Mildred Nugent.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be David Dickey, Jonathan Grantham, Jeff Cummings, Travis Lewis, Jessica Trichel, Jim Freeman, Randy Broadway, and Jim Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christina Nugent, Shaylynn Nugent, and Derrick Gooden
