Wilmer Lee McQueen

July 19, 1920 — January 4, 2014

A service to honor the life of Mr. Wilmer L. McQueen will be 2:30 pm Friday, January 10, 2014 at Coldwater Baptist Church in Hagewood, LA with Bro. Rickey Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Coldwater Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Coldwater Baptist Church. Mr. McQueen, 93 years of age, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Natchitoches. He was born July 19, 1920 in Natchitoches to Ernest and Mary (Sibley) McQueen. He managed a pulpwood plant in the Provencal area for many years. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Avis Inelle (Hughey) McQueen. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Leon McQueen and his wife Nell of Provencal; sisters, Bess Hammond of Greeley, CO and Shirley Tyler and her husband Roy of Houston, TX; a special friend and neighbor, Becky Minish and her husband David of Provencal; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include, Gary DeBlieux, Jimmy, DeBlieux, Tommy DeBlieux, Larry DeBlieux, Steve McQueen and Mike McQueen. Honorary pallbearers will be David Minish, Tom Guess, Billy Lyles, Dewayne Horn, Charles McQueen and Paul McQueen.
