Funeral services for Rev. John Edgar Wilson will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Thomas Keith Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Goldonna, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on January 7, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Rev. John Wilson, 82 years of age, passed away January 4, 2014. John was born August 27, 1931 to the late George and Sylvia Wilson in Spiro, OK. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, serving in "K" Company, 199th Infantry Regiment. He served in the HQ Tagu Mil Post 809 2nd Au Apo 234, earning him the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the United Nation Service Medal, and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation. John was an ordained minister. He loved going to nursing homes in Jonesboro, holding services there with his wife Allie, until his health caused him to retire. He and Allie also loved going to community singings where they would play with other musicians and sing. He would fellowship at any church with an open door. He loved doing the work of the Lord. John loved his family and was a devoted husband and father. He loved to fish and hunt with his sons. He will be dearly missed by all that loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Allie Mae Hay Wilson of Goldonna, LA; three sons, John Wyatt Wilson of Goldonna, LA, James Edward Wilson of Goldonna, LA and Harold Wilson and wife Joanne of Baltimore, MD; three granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth Blackmon of Anacoco, LA, Jyoti Fernandes of London, England, and Jennica Fernandes of California; three grandsons, Joel Fernandes and wife Sarah of Ruston, LA, Joshua Fernandes of Chicago, IL, and John Fernandes of Georgia; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Richmond and Geraldine Averette, both of Monroe, LA; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sylvia Wilson; one son, Anthony Lane Wilson; and one grandson, Justin Lane Wilson.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Charles Cloud, Jack Jordan, Jr., Calvin Hay, Jr., Tommy Pardee, Dan Rachal, Billy Martin, Reggie Longino, and Eugene Gardner.
