Trave was born on November 2, 1935, in Marthaville, Louisiana, to J.A. “Debs” Moore and Ettie Moody Moore. Trave was a lifelong resident of Marthaville and was proud to call Marthaville his home. Despite being born a premature baby in the 1930s, Trave went on to be a successful businessman, landowner, farmer, and gardener. He received a diploma from Marthaville High School, although Trave always admitted he enjoyed everything about school but going to class. While Trave had various jobs over the years, he was most proud of his time as owner of the “Feed Store” in Marthaville. The Feed Store gave him the opportunity to do the two things he loved most in the world, talk to people and make money. Anyone who ever met Trave never forgot him. He never met a stranger and even if he did, they would not be one for long. His mother once joked, “Trave, you would talk to the devil if he would listen.” Trave was very witty and could always make you laugh.
In retirement, Trave loved to garden and spend the afternoons in his recliner or on the front porch swing waiting for a friend to stop by for a visit. Whether talking gardening, the weather, sports, politics or making it rich, Trave just enjoyed being with friends and family. He missed talking to his friends so much while in the hospital, Trave even learned how to use a cell phone. Everyone will surely miss their talks with Trave.
Trave was preceded in death by his parents J.A. “Debs” Moore and Ettie Moore. He is survived by his two brothers who were with Trave to the end, Alvin “Bo” Moore and wife Mildred of Natchitoches, LA, and Benny Moore and wife Vera of Blanchard, LA; nieces and nephews, Frances Moore Contario, Christi Moore Rinaudo and husband Tony, Staci Moore Kelley and husband Randy, Steven Moore and wife Monika, Tonya Moore Strahan and husband Terry, and Kyle Moore and wife Marla; great nieces and nephews, Braden Contario, Jessica Moore Chesshir, Ginni Draper, Dustin Draper, Katelyn Kelley, Tyler Kelley, Christina Moore, Stephanie Moore, James Moore, William Moore, and Thomas Moore; and great-great nieces, Jentri “Gia-Rose” Moore and Jenli Chesshir.
Trave was very proud of his many friends and he knew he was blessed to have so many people that cared about him. The family would like to especially thank Mrs. Jean Berry for all she did for Trave and helping him stay in Marthaville as long as he could. We would also like to thank Trave’s best friends and extended family, Ted and Jan Singletary and Bill and Emily Gillock. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Marthaville Cemetery Fund in Memory of Trave Moore.
