Funeral service for Garvis Taylor will be held 11 AM Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Wade DeCosta officiating. Burial will be in Pardee Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches, LA. Visitation will be Monday, June 30, 2008 from 5 PM until 9 PM and on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 8 AM until 10 AM in the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor, 73, of Campti, LA, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, in his residence at Campti, LA.
He was a native of Downsville, LA. He was a retired building superintendent for BAS Construction. He was a member of Our Lady Of The Rosary Catholic Church on Black Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Sherwood Taylor; two brothers-in-law, Andrew Istre and Mack Stancil
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cathy Woods Taylor; of Campti, LA; mother, Pauline Bearden Taylor of West Monroe, LA; five daughters, Suzette Rowell and husband Johnny of Bakersfield, CA., Teresa Cone and husband Scott of Mount Dora, FL., Kimberly Smith and husband Justin of Campti, LA., Molly Meshell and husband Leonard of Campti, LA, and Laura Simmons of Natchitoches, LA.; five sons, Willis 'Buddy' Taylor and wife Betty of Farmerville, LA, Mark Taylor and wife Trish of Bakersfield, CA, Jamie Taylor and wife Stefanie of Farmerville, LA, Cecil Hinds and wife Ashley of Bossier City, LA, and James Hinds and wife Regina of Natchitoches, LA.; twenty one grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Istre of West Monroe, LA and Jean Smith and husband Deuel of West Monroe, LA.
Pallbearers will be Jason Powell, Michael Simmons, James Hinds, Bruce Patton, Kenneth Simmons, and Dusty Freemyer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Pardee, Cecil Hinds, Jimmy Stancil, and Dennis Boyette.
