Funeral services for Dorothy Jennings Rachal will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Father Ryan Humphries officiating. Interment will follow at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on February 10, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Dorothy “Dot” Rachal, 83 years of age, formerly of Natchitoches, passed away February 7, 2014 in Ruston, LA after a long and courageous battle of multiple illnesses. Dot was born to Mattie and Luther Jennings in Bethany community in Marthaville, LA on August 23, 1930. She married L.J. Rachal and had three children, Darlene, Mark and Randy. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Elliott and husband Charles of Bernice, LA; sisters, Maxine Birdwell of Marthaville, LA and Maurice Wilkins and husband Don of Shreveport, LA; five grandchildren, Carmen Haas, Casey Rachal, Christina Walls, Jason Rachal, Lindsey Rachal; eight great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Mattie Jennings; her brothers, Hilton and Phillip; her husband, L.J. Rachal; and her two sons, Mark and Randy. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jay Schott, Mervin Birdwell, Bobby Dean Birdwell, Casey Rachal, Jason Rachal, Bob Muirhead, and Darrell Washam. The family wishes to thank Alpine Gamble Guest Care for their tender loving care of Mom in her last days and a special thank you to Dr. William Sanders for his kindness.
