Sonny Stephens

A service to honor the life of Mr. Sonny Stephens will be 1 pm Wednesday, February 12, 2013 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches with Bro. Wayne Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, February 11th at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Derek Stephens, Justin Stephens, Dan Fedrick, Dusty Clayborn, Buddy Graham, and Wayne Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Wyatt, Jerry LaCour, and Daniel Sweeney. Sonny, 78 and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Sunday, February 9th at his residence. He was born September 30, 1935 to the union of Edwin D. Stephens and Nonie McDonald Stephens in Natchitoches. He retired after 27 years of working with LA Forestry Commission. He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilma Nelson Stephens; one son, Ricky Stephens and his wife Pam of Fairview Alpha; 2 grandsons, Derek and his wife Kristy and Justin and his wife Krissi of all of Fairview Alpha; 3 great grandchildren, sister, Faye Nelson; and a brother, Earnest (Tubby) Stephens.
