A service to honor the life of Mr. William Michael Black will be 2 pm Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Josh Currie officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service on the 15th at Blanchard-St. Denis. A reception will be held following the service at Trinity Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located at 527 Howard Street, Natchitoches, LA.
William M. Black, age 76, passed away from this earth on February 8, 2014 with his family by his side. William was born in Natchitoches on November 14, 1937 and was a life-long resident of Natchitoches. He was a 1956graduate of Natchitoches High School and immediately joined the Navy upon graduation. In 1960, he returned from his service to his country and married Annie Joyce Nelms Sandefur. In 1973, he earned a degree in accounting from Northwestern State University. He graced this earth for 76 years with integrity, honesty, firm beliefs in righteousness and passed with the assuredness of knowing Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Dewey Black and Laura Marie (Weeks) Black; sisters, Sybil Black Bannano, Violet Black Dyer, Betty Black Keys; brother, Dewey Black.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Anne Joyce Nelms Black; step sons, Craig Sandefur, Michael Sandefur and his wife Carol Ann; step daughter, Vickie Sandefur Flood; son William Clay Black; daughter, Twilla Marie Black Free and her husband Rick; and his sister, Jimilene Black Kelley. He was blessed with 3 grandchildren, Sheena Nicole Kelley Yourkonis and husband Bryan, Tony Duran Kelley and Kristopher Michael Free.
